BAYARD MEN’S GOLF ASSOCIATION LEAGUE RULES 2011
The league follows USGA rules and
local Chimney Rock Golf Course rules.
In addition, the members have voted
on the following rules.
League Dues
League Dues: $60.00 for Team Members,
$30.00 for Substitutes
League members are responsible to pay for their league dues. League members are responsible for their course membership or green fees when playing on the men’s league. Dues should be paid by the first night of league play. Members with dues not paid prior to start of the third night will not receive points until dues are paid. Their competition will be assigned blind draws to earn their points. Dues for substitutes should be paid within two weeks of the first day that they play.
League General
The league will be limited to 28
teams.
The league will start
on April 28, 2011 and run 16 weeks with an extra week for rain outs to August 18,
2011. The extra week would be used for a fun night or to make up a rain out
date. The championships round is scheduled to be played on Tuesday, August 23,
2011, Thursday, August 25, 2011 and Tuesday, August 30, 2011. New in 2011
Free steak night for
members will be on the last night of the first half and a make up night the
following week.
General Play
Established members will start play
with their season ending handicaps and new members will bring their handicap.
Play can start at
To help keep play moving the
following rule applies. If a group is approaching the green or on the green, do
not start your play in front of them. You may start your play after they tee
off or else find another hole which is not backed up.
To help keep play moving the following rule applies. A drop ball with penalty will be allowed on a lost ball. A drop ball with penalties will be allowed if a ball and a provisional ball both go out of bounds. The “drop zone” will be by mutual consent of both teams. New in 2011

following rule applies. The lateral hazard rule will be in force on hole number five and hole number six. The water hazard on
these holes has been deemed by the league to be impracticable to drop a ball
behind the water hazard in accordance with rule 26-1b. 1) A ball may be dropped
with penalty behind the water hazard in a line from the hole through the point
the ball entered the hazard with no limit to how far behind the hazard the ball
may be dropped. 2) A ball may be dropped with penalty, on the opposite side, within
two club lengths of the hazard margin, not nearer the hole
and in as far as practicable in line with the original flight of the ball. New

A team is awarded a blind draw if
their competition does not show up after waiting until
If a team can't play on league night
and wish to compete for points, they must notify the other team by the
Wednesday before league play. Competition is by mutual agreement. These teams
do not compete for day money.
Any un-gentlemanly conduct by a team member will result in the immediate suspension of the team for that day and the league officers will meet to vote on length of suspension.
A substitute becomes the A player or
the B player according to their handicap.
A lone team member plays in his
position and the other position is scored using 70% of his handicap.
Seniors 65 years and older will be
allowed to use the gold tees on the nights that white tees are played and to
use the white tees on the nights that blue tees are played. Once the senior
makes that decision, he must play those tees for the season.
Scoring System
The league will use a 5 point scoring system. The A players will play for 2 points, one for stroke play and one for match play. The B players will play for 2 points, one for stroke play and one for match play. The final point will be a team match play for a 5 point total.
Play During Inclement Weather
Rain outs will be called by
If bad weather comes up during league play, it is up to both teams if they play or stop. If you stop play before you have completed 4 holes you can play the match on another day. A substitute is allowed if the round is played over. If you have played 4 or more holes and have to stop you must finish the round from that point on another day. There can be no substituting players on the remaining round. If one or the other team cannot finish the round on another day, the team that shows up wins the points.
Teams may play a make up round on any
other night up to the following Sunday night for posting purposes and that if
one team forfeits or shows up 15 minutes late of the agreed to time, the
remaining team is awarded a blind draw. New

Day Money – Championship Money
Payouts of the money will be as
follows. There will be day money each week for the top 3 teams starting after the
second week of league play. There will be prize money paid to the top 4 teams, for
each of the eight week sessions of play. There will also be prize money paid to
the top 4 teams in championship finals. If a team makes the top 4 in both eight
weeks of play, they win the money, but the next team in line will move up in
the second half to play in the championship finals.
Day money on rain outs go back into the league coffers.
Day money to top three teams each week is only available to those teams playing on Thursday night. (Rainouts can be re-scheduled prior to the next Sunday; however rain-out day money goes to league coffers)
Day money can only be won by a two
member team or one team member and a substitute, not by a lone team member.
Day money tie breaker in a league
match – Score card playoff of team net strokes starting with the most difficult
hole, the next most difficult hole, the next most difficult hole, etc.
